Krome Detainee Release Paths
Krome North Service Processing Center is a federal immigration detention facility in Miami. It is included for Collier County because CCSO documents it as a possible transfer destination, not because it is a county facility. A person can finish local charges or post bond, leave Naples or Immokalee custody, and then enter ICE custody. That sequence contains a county release, but not a community release.
An ICE custody leg may later end through removal or voluntary departure, release while immigration proceedings remain pending, release after a case is resolved, or transfer to another law-enforcement or custodial agency. ICE groups these different events under limited public status language. The exact destination and continuing legal process therefore matter as much as the date.

Collier Release to Krome
CCSO confirms participation in ICE's 287(g) program and says immigration-status questions occur during booking. Its family guide states that a person identified with an immigration issue generally remains in Collier jail until the state charges are completed or release on bond occurs. In some cases, transport to Krome may occur approximately two to four days after that point.
That two-to-four-day statement is an approximate local handoff description, not a guaranteed transport timetable. Charges, bond, another hold, records processing, transport, and federal decisions can change an individual sequence. Verify the actual county release type and destination with CCSO. Then verify ICE custody independently.
CCSO's guide says the A-number can be obtained through Naples Jail Center at 239-252-9620 and lists Krome at 305-207-2001. Contacts and practices can change, so compare them with current official ICE information before travel or a time-sensitive decision.
Search Krome Detainee Status
Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. ICE says the better search uses the nine-digit Alien Registration Number, called an A-number, plus country of birth. Add leading zeroes when required. The alternate search uses exact name, date of birth, and country of birth. Spelling and country information must match the source record closely.
- Obtain the A-number from the person, counsel, immigration paperwork, or the CCSO route when available.
- Enter the A-number and country of birth in ODLS. If unavailable, use exact biographical fields.
- Read the location and custody wording exactly. Do not replace it with a broader claim.
- Contact the listed ICE facility or information line when the record is absent, delayed, or unclear.
- Keep the CCSO release record beside the ICE result so the two custody legs remain distinct.
The locator covers adults in ICE custody and people held by CBP for more than 48 hours. It does not search minors. It also does not reveal whether ICE has merely lodged a detainer against someone who remains in a Collier jail.
Krome Not In Custody
ICE says “Not In Custody” remains available only for a release from ICE during the prior 60 days. It can refer to removal or voluntary departure, release while proceedings continue, release after proceedings resolved, or transfer to another custodial authority. The phrase confirms only that the person is no longer in ICE custody as represented by the locator.
It does not prove that the person is in Collier County, free of immigration proceedings, or outside all other custody. A transfer to another authority can produce the same broad result. Record the search date, status wording, identifiers, and any location detail. Contact ICE or counsel when the precise outcome matters.
ICE also says ODLS information can lag by as much as eight hours. A recent arrival may not appear at once. A recent exit may not update at once. Never turn the locator's update limit into an exact release time.

No Krome Search Result
No result is not proof of release. The name may be entered differently, country of birth may not match, the A-number may be incomplete, the person may be a minor, the transfer may be recent, or the person may remain in local custody under a detainer. A past ICE release may also fall outside the locator's limited public window.
Start with the last confirmed custodian. If CCSO has not recorded a transfer, call the county facility or Jail Records. If CCSO confirms ICE as the receiving agency, use the Detainee Reporting and Information Line at 1-888-351-4024 and the current ICE detention-facility directory. Counsel can use case-specific channels that are not public locators.
The federal immigration locator is not VINELink, the BOP Inmate Locator, or the FDC Offender Network. VINE covers participating custody notifications. BOP covers federal criminal prisoners. FDC covers Florida prison and felony supervision. An absent record in one system cannot settle the others.

ICE detention records are federal records and are subject to federal access and privacy rules. Public locator information is the first-line status route. A request concerning another person may return only public or releasable portions. Court records, immigration counsel, and ICE case channels may be better sources for an order or procedural outcome.

Document Krome Transfer Records
A useful timeline begins with the Collier booking record. Add the local court order or bond event. Next, obtain the CCSO release screen showing the actual county exit and receiving agency. Then preserve the first ICE locator match, facility contact, later ICE status, and any immigration court or release document available through authorized channels.
Do not describe completion of state charges as completion of immigration proceedings. Likewise, posting county bond can satisfy the local release condition while an immigration custody step remains. Each agency acts under different authority and maintains a different record.
A focused CCSO request can seek the booking sheet and jail release log, including actual date and time, release code, releasing authority, and destination. Ask for an existing record, not a newly created explanation. Chapter 119 access is subject to lawful exemptions and redaction.

After Krome Detainee Release
When ODLS reports “Not In Custody,” ask what event lies behind that label. If the person or authorized representative has paperwork, preserve the exact agency wording and date. Immigration counsel can explain continuing appearances, reporting, or other case-specific duties. A public locator cannot provide legal advice or a complete case file.
If another custodian received the person, continue with that agency. A federal criminal sentence belongs in the BOP locator. State prison belongs in FDC. A new county event belongs with that county. Do not carry Krome's last location forward after an official transfer.
When the person did return to the community, the end of detention does not by itself resolve the underlying local criminal docket or immigration case. Check the Collier Clerk for the county matter and the proper immigration case channel for the federal matter. Keep dates and identifiers separate.
The safest conclusion is narrow: CCSO custody ended on its recorded date; ICE custody began or did not begin based on federal confirmation; ICE custody later ended under the specific federal wording. Anything beyond those facts needs its own source.
